Microsomes and Drug Oxidations

Microsomes and Drug Oxidations (MDO) constitutes the major series of international symposia in the field of drug metabolism and related areas.

The history of microsomes and Drug Oxidations (pdf)

MDO has a long tradition of meetings since the first symposia in Bethesda, USA in 1968 and now occurs every two years. The next meeting will take place between August 30 and September 3, 2020 in Prague, Czech Republic.

The MDO meetings bring together scientists from both academia and industry and constitute a fruitful meeting place where synergistic interactions are established and the latest developments in the field are discussed. The meetings usually have 400-500 attendees and encompass the areas of drug metabolizing enzymes, drug receptors and drug transporters including their:

  • biophysics
  • biochemistry
  • molecular biology
  • structure and function
  • molecular genetics
  • polymorphism
  • regulation
  • clinical aspects

Particular emphasis is given to the importance of discoveries in basic science for drug development.

MDO has an International Advisory Committee with distinguished scientists in the field.
